Sherrill Hall
Lesley University/Boston, MA
Environments at Work helped transform Lesley University’s Sherrill Hall into a vibrant academic and social hub on the Brattle Campus.
Originally built in 1965 and home to more than 140,000 print titles, the renovated building now blends quiet study areas, collaborative spaces, and flexible gathering areas that better support the evolving needs of students. Completed in April 2025, the project repositions Sherrill Hall as the centerpiece of campus life.
Design & Furnishings
The reimagined layout zones the building’s four levels to support a range of activities – from preserved library stacks and quiet study areas in the lower levels to increasingly active, social environments above. A new lounge for presentations and performances, along with a café, creates a welcoming destination for student engagement.
Environments at Work furnished the space with products from Kimball, Source, AIS, Arcadia, Bernhardt Design, ERG, KI, and Leland to support:
- Individual study areas
- Collaborative lounges
- Multi-purpose presentation zones
- Café and social seating
What Makes This Project Special
The renovation gives Sherrill Hall a new identity as the social center of the Brattle Campus inviting students to connect, gather, and learn in meaningful ways. As Centerbrook Architects described, the project brings new life and purpose to a once-static building, creating “a dynamic new student-centric heart at its core.”
